AI Task Force

Overview

Co-Chairs

North Carolina Attorney General Jeff Jackson and Utah Attorney General Derek Brown

The Artificial Intelligence Task Force is a bipartisan, multi-sector effort focused on examining the opportunities and challenges presented by artificial intelligence, while ensuring that innovation advances responsibly, ethically, and in alignment with the rule of law. The initiative is designed to provide a collaborative platform for state leaders and cross-sector partners to address the fast-evolving landscape of AI and identify emerging issues related to artificial intelligence as this transformative technology accelerates. Its broader mission is to help protect the public from potential harms while supporting thoughtful, practical approaches to rapidly developing technologies.

The AI Task Force focuses on three key efforts. First, it works with law enforcement, experts, and stakeholders to identify emerging AI issues so attorneys general are equipped to protect the public. Second, it develops basic safeguards that AI developers should follow to protect the public and reduce the risk of harm, especially to children. Third, it creates a standing forum to track developments in AI and coordinate timely responses as new challenges emerge. Together, these efforts are intended to help ensure that policymakers, law enforcement, and industry leaders can collaboratively address evolving AI challenges while protecting consumers and communities.
